FAQ’S

What is health?

It is the mode of living that is important to keep a person healthy.  Health is an attitude towards life & not at all the procedure to use medicine.
What is Disease?
Disease is only a distortion in the otherwise healthy vital force.  Disease is not a separate entity that needs to be removed from the system.  It is just the distorded vital force which needs to be brought  back to normalcy.  Distortion is caused by external forces upon the constitution.   The customs & habits of food, rest, sleep, work & sex are the main external causes that throws the system into disorder.

For what conditions can homeopathy be useful?

Homeopathy is very integrative with most other modes of treatment. In most cases, homeopathy can be used along with conventional medicine to safely speed healing and facilitate the general well being of the patient. Always notify your homeopath of any/all medications you are taking.

Can I take medication for pain or headaches?

While it’s best to let the body express any symptoms without interfering with them, sometimes in the beginning of treatment pain medication may be needed. If pain or headaches are a recurrent symptom, be sure to let me know in our initial interview so we can discuss how to address this.

How is Homeopathy different from conventional medicine?

Conventional medicine sees health as the absence of disease. You may assume that you are healthy if there is nothing wrong with you physically. To a person versed in homeopathy, health is much more than that. A healthy person is a person who is free on all levels: physical, emotional, and mental.  A person who is experiencing physical disability is not free at a physical level.  Similarly there are people though physically doing well are suffering at a mental plane.  Also there are people who are emotionally broken down due to several reasons.
The homeopath recognizes such limitations and attempts, through the use of the properly selected remedies, to restore the person to health and freedom. The basic difference between conventional medical therapy and homeopathy is about the idea of health and cure. Conventional medicine sees Health as absence of disease or a disease being under control. But to a Homeopath the idea of cure is not to keep the disease under control but by eradication & restoring wellness in physical, emotional & spiritual planes of the individual using gentle measures as stated by

How long do I have to be under Homeopathic care?

This is very difficult to predict, as individuals respond differently to treatment. Treatment should be continued for at least a period of six months, and that you recognize that natural healing is a process, not an overnight fix.

When should I use conventional medicine?

There are conditions for which conventional medicine should be your first choice for treatment. Homeopathy can still complement these treatments to support the body’s healing efforts.

  1. When a situation is life-threatening or emergency treatment is needed, e.g., deep wounds requiring stitches, severe blows to the head or body, protruding broken bones, hemorrhaging, unconsciousness, severe flair ups of chronic conditions, etc.
  2. For diagnosis
  3. For conditions requiring surgical intervention
  4. For extreme pathologies that have resulted from the complete breakdown of the body’s healing mechanisms, e.g., deep and worsening infection, autoimmune disease, cancer, etc.

Homeopathy is not meant to replace the advice of your doctor and I recommend that you be under the care of a medical doctor at all times.

What can I do to speed my recovery?

You can support your body’s ability to defend itself and heal by:

  1. Taking time to rest when you feel tired or ill
  2. Eating a healthy and varied diet
  3. Drinking water regularly
  4. Getting regular exercise
  5. Avoid substances that can stop the action of a remedy.
  6. Avoid smoking & drinking alcohol.

Avoid making major changes in lifestyle, routine, medications and supplements while evaluating the action of a remedy.
Avoid substances and situations that you know will trigger your particular conditions.

What should I do if I get a cold or the flu?

During an acute illness, avoid taking any drugs, over-the-counter medications, herbal or flower remedies or supplements as you might have done before. Call me first, especially if you are considering a doctor visit. An acute remedy may be called for, to support healing and can often replace the need for antibiotics and other drugs.
